Employee
Assistance
Program
The
Headquarter's
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) assists employees and their families
with issues affecting
work or home. We all experience times when our usual coping strategies
are insufficient to solve a problem. The EAP provides free, confidential,
short term counseling to help DOE employees and their families develop
new approaches through coaching and, when appropriate, referral to community
resources.
In addition, the EAP sponsors educational and wellness presentations on topics of interest
to employees; including eldercare, stress management, anger and conflict management, parenting
finances, healthy aging, and others. To further assist employees, short-term support groups are developed
from the presentation series or from individual workgroup requests. Twice per year, EAP staff offers
anxiety, depression, and substance abuse screenings in person or anonymously. Both Forrestal and Germantown
offices offer lending libriaries and other informational resources on a wide variety of topics.
